Ignite presentations: Learner response

Your learner response is as follows and will take some time to do properly: Create a new blogpost called 'Ignite presentation learner response' 1) Type up your feedback in full including the ratings out of five for each category.  Good, solid opening clearly setting out text and topic sound structure-clear opening and genre release+points on Valentine’s day very good strong research-budget, box office More on to topic-violence. BBFC mentioned but much more could be said here Excellent design to presentation- good use of images and not much text Rehearsal not quite there, get a bit lost around institution. A couple of long pauses waiting for the slide returns to violence and copycat case-structure could be better here jump from narrative back to violence-essay will need to be much clearer structure and organisation Illegal streaming point is interesting but again could discuss more: it was highly successful so surely they d...

MEST4 Summer Project

Image
The following needs to be completed by the   MIGRAIN key concept research Media Representations  Who is being represented?  In what way?  By whom? One of the groups that are represented are villain who are shown in the movies as aggressive and unsympathetic. This reinforces the crime done by the villain which is shown in nearly every superhero film. Even though they are doing the same act of crime, they are breaking the law either being fictional or not.  Another group shown is superhero. In must superhero movies, the hero or heroine are shown to be noble and a role model to kids. However, in Deadpool, the hero is trying to benefit himself. This is an alternative view on superhero. Why is the subject being represented in this way?  Even though that this movie wasn't expected to do as good as it did, it still had the same stereotypes as the blockbusters. For example, the villain is from England. They are shown to be harmful to inno...

Summer project: proposal

Media text:    Deadpool (2016) Media issue/debate:   moral panic,  encouraging violence, representation of guns Link to Media key concepts (MIGRAIN) - at least THREE:   Ideology, Narrative/ genre(action), Representation of guns/violence, audience pleasure   Wider context - impact of text/topic on society:  This topic is important as we could find out if violence that teenagers see are recreated because of the movie. We will be able to see if violent movies make the line from reality and fiction smaller. For example  Robert Thompson and Jon Venables. This could help restricted movies differently. As well as this, I could talk about how accessible violence is to smaller kids and the negative impact. Linked production:  -poster(billboard) -film opening -trailer

Introduction to the Critical Investigation: Issues and Debates

1) Write a one-sentence answer to the initial questions in the factsheet: Do fashion magazines contribute to the occurrence of eating disorders? They do as they only represent female that are tall and thin. This can lead to eating disorders as they see that as an "ideal" body shape. Magazines likes Vogue mostly show females in this body shape and their demographic are mostly teenager girls which could lead to them trying to look like them without knowing the consequences. They also promote being thin by having thing such as "10 ways to lose weight before summer" which could contribute to this issue as well. Do games make people behave violently? Everyone reacts to games in a different way. People have propensity to violence but most people do not get effect by the games. However, you could argue that video games such as Call of Duty and GTA 5 promote violence and make it a norm. As well as this, video games are slowly become more realistic with graphic t...
