Critical investigation tutorial and learner response
- · Very good Ignite learner response – you reflect well on the strengths and weaknesses and I think there’s real potential to your text and topic.
- · However, you still need a lot more clarity in terms of how you are approaching this issue – therefore the title, angle and hypothesis in your project proposal will be vital.
- · Will you be suggesting the media is responsible for copycat crime or anti-social behaviour? If so, I’m a little concerned about your choice of text – are there any examples of violent acts linked to Deadpool?
- · I would consider writing a strong argument the other way – a passionate defence of the media and particularly violent films. Quentin Tarantino would be a good person to look at here – loads of stuff online with him and the violent movies debate.
- · Your secondary/historical texts will be important here – select them wisely. These could be used to present the other side of the argument. Perhaps look at Natural Born Killers and The Fisher King as historical texts that have been linked to violence.
- · We’ve got some books in DF07 that will be worth looking at in terms of media effects and Hollywood film. The BFI Library trip will also be vital for this.
· Write your three next steps in this project as a
numbered list along with how you plan to complete them.
